The Central Florida Clean Cities Coalition was pleased to host a visit from Linda Bluestein, Co-Director of the US Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Linda was in Orlando for a speaking engagement at the National Association of Fleet Administrators Annual Institute and Expo. She made the trip from Orlando to the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa, the Coalition’s host agency, in a plug in electric vehicle. FSEC recently added to its electric vehicle charging capabilities by installing an electric vehicle fast charging station along with a Level 2 charger. The charging stations are open to the public 24 hours a day.
Linda, as we hope many more visitors to the area will do, rented the PEV through Drive Electric Orlando (DEO). DEO is a partnership of area hotels and theme parks and Enterprise Rent a Car that makes electric vehicles available to the region’s visitors to provide them with an extended “test drive” with the hope that they will consider an EV for their next vehicle purchase. Rental of the EV is supported by a network of electric vehicle charging stations at hotels and theme parks throughout the region, as well as the City of Orlando’s extensive urban EV charging infrastructure.
